1. Who we are
This website, makpaints.com.au, is operated by Mayank Tikiya, a sole trader (ABN 78 796 343 095) trading as Mak Paints, a residential and commercial painting business serving metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean that business.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and we handle your personal information accordingly. This policy applies to this website and to enquiries that reach us through it.
2. What personal information we collect
We only collect what we need to quote and carry out painting work:
- Information you give us in the quote form: your name, phone number, email address, the suburb your property is in, the service you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message field about the job.
- Information you give us by phone or email: the same kinds of details, plus the street address of the property when we book an on-site visit, and any access or scheduling notes.
- Job records, if you become a client: quotes, colour selections, invoices and payment records.
- Technical information logged by our web server: your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, with a timestamp. These are standard server logs kept for security and fault diagnosis. We do not use them to build a profile of you.
We do not ask for, and do not want, sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act. Please do not send us health information, government identifiers or payment card numbers through the website form.
3. How we collect and hold it
We collect personal information directly from you: through the quote form on this site, by phone, by email, or in person at the on-site visit. We do not buy contact lists and we do not collect your details from third parties.
Form submissions are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and delivered to our business email inbox. Job records are held in our business email and accounting records. Access is limited to Mayank Tikiya and the people working on your job.
4. Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry and book the free on-site measure-up.
- To prepare and send you a written quote.
- To schedule, carry out and invoice the work if you accept the quote.
- To deal with warranty claims and any follow-up work.
- To meet our record-keeping, tax and insurance obligations.
We will not use your details for marketing you did not ask for. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, ever.
5. Who else sees it
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to do the job or where the law requires it:
- Web3Forms, the form-delivery service that processes the submission from this site and forwards it to our inbox. Your form details pass through their systems.
- Our email and hosting providers, in the ordinary course of storing and delivering that mail.
- Tradespeople and suppliers working on your specific job, where they need your address or access details to do it.
- Our accountant and insurer, and any authority we are legally required to disclose to.
6. Overseas disclosure
Yes, this is likely. Web3Forms and our email provider operate outside Australia, so information you submit through this website is processed on servers located overseas. Web3Forms does not publish the specific country in which it stores submission data, so we are not able to name that country here. If you would rather not send your details through an overseas service, call or email us directly instead and your information stays in our own records.
7. Cookies, analytics and advertising
Being straight with you about what this site actually runs:
- This site sets no cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- There is no analytics package installed - no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no advertising pixel, no session recording, no heatmaps.
- Fonts and all other assets are served from our own domain, so loading a page does not call out to a third-party server.
- We do advertise on Google Ads. If you arrive from an ad, Google may append a click identifier to the web address. Google's own handling of that is covered by Google's privacy policy, not ours. We may add conversion tracking in future; if we do, we will update this section before it goes live.
8. How long we keep it
If you ask for a quote and do not go ahead, we keep the enquiry for up to 12 months in case you come back to it, then delete it. If you become a client, we keep job and financial records for seven years as required by Australian tax law. Server logs are kept for a short period and then overwritten.
9. Security
This site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, and to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Accessing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct anything that is wrong, or to delete it. Email hello@makpaints.com.au or call 04XX XXX XXX. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for asking. We may need to verify who you are before we hand anything over. If we refuse a request we will tell you why in writing.
11. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at hello@makpaints.com.au with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and give you a written response within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints, or call 1300 363 992.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. The current version always lives at this address.
